JPG is a practical choice for forms, messages, and sites that do not recognise HEIC or WebP.
Convert before an older service rejects the original. The output name and format make the handoff clear.
PNG is useful when you need transparent pixels or crisp graphic edges. The browser canvas re-encodes decoded pixels, so source-byte, metadata, and color-profile preservation are not promised. JPG uses a white background for transparent pixels.
